Project: Hot Shots Free Taco Give Away
The Project Review:
The Tijuana Flats Hot Shot Give Away was a collaboration between the Orlando Magic and Tijuana Flats Burrito Co. During the game, every time the Magic hit a three-pointer the LEDs in the Amway arena would glow green with the Hot Shot animations. Once the Magic hit ten three-pointers the announcers informed the fans that they won a free taco, which can be redeemed at any of the 32 Central Florida Tijuana Flats locations. Social media was also incorporated educating readers to save their tickets after the game and during the 2011-2012 the Orlando Magic had sixteen home games where they hit ten or more three-pointers.
There was a total redemption of over 12,000 fans visiting Tijuana Flats restaurants which showed an increase in incremental revenue of over $78,000. There was a 95% increase in redemptions from the previous basketball season and the Magic hit 325 three-pointers during the season. This gave Tijuana Flats a huge presence during the games and helped the brand become engrained in the game experience.
