RADIOSHACK INTEGRATED SUPER BOWL CAMPAIGN

Client: RadioShack
Project: Rebrand Campaign
Agency: GSD&M

The Project Review: The Super Bowl spot for RadioShack carried the message "Goodbye '80s @RadioShack," launching a response-based social media campaign on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The campaign aimed to discard all the outdated '80s items RadioShack no longer wanted, such as "Beat-It" jackets, Pac-Man video games, and even a 1987 Porsche. Every hour, a new item was released, and celebrities like Hulk Hogan, Mary Lou Retton, Kid&Play, Erik Estrada, and Dee Snider from Twisted Sister invited followers to participate by submitting funny captions for the desired item to win. Each item was branded with a unique hashtag to encourage social sharing.
